Lack of Lock-In
This boot earns three stars for some great features. Mainly the Megagrip outsole and just the fact that it is a tough, lightweight, minimalist, (close to) zero-drop boot capable of handling challenging terrain in a coyote tan package. I primarily use them for rucking and backcountry backpack hunting off trail in rugged terrain and they have held up thus far after about a month of use. The caveat, and what keeps them from getting five stars, is that I cannot achieve a locked in fit through the heel and midfoot. The toe box is excellent with the single insole. I can get a little better fit through the midfoot by using the additional insole under the main one. This isn't ideal, however, as it reduces the volume in the toe and doesn't eliminate the side-to-side slop in the heel/midfoot, precluding that locked-in feeling. I replaced the laces with crinkle/wavy laces and used a locking lace technique, but to no avail. Besides improving the locked in fit, my only other minor tweak would be to reduce the boot height by one inch, but that is a small nitpick. I would definitely buy additional pairs and both heights in the future if the slop issue were solved.

Pretty Awesome
This is my first pair of Lems. So far I love them. I bought them to replace my old combat boots. My old pair was hot and cramped on my foot. The wide toe box is a game changer for all day comfort. My feet stay cool and comfortable. Whether is long Alaskan hikes or trips to the glacier, these boots have worked out great. We’ll see how they last through the years of heavy use, but I expect them to break in nicely!
