    Absolutely love the Trail Thrashers!

I love my new pair of Trail Thrashers, they are what I was looking for in a wide toe box outdoor oriented shoe. I do wish there was still more cushion thickness as I am someone who ends up buying barefoot shoes for the width and not the barefoot aspect. As Lems partnered with Rose Anvil already, I’d love to see an insole collaboration centered around the saddle sole! That would be amazing for those like me who are in it for the width but find the barefoot too uncomfortable too fast.

Good direction, middling width and poor toebox space

I like the idea of these shoes, maybe version 2 or 3 will hit the mark so I returned them.

    Good:

Wider trail shoes that are breathable, and not waterproof.

Solid tread depth, and the sole seems pretty durable.

Heel lock eyelets (these should be on basically every shoe you make in my opinion). The heel fit well if I removed the insole and used a lace lock to tie it.

Colors. Great color options. I like the two tone blue and brown the best and prefer not to have white shoes, but I know others who like the opposite. The three options are all great in different ways.

    Bad:

The toebox is too narrow, it forces your big toe to the center of the shoe, causing bunions. This gets worse for those of use with taller toes. The ball is almost wide enough, but where the shoe becomes wider for the ball needs to be moved slightly further back, maybe 0.5-1 inch or so in an 11.5. Additionally it felt as though the big toe space on my pair was visibly smaller on one shoe compared to the other, so maybe there are QC issues on these initial runs? I would like to see a slightly wider sole and upper with a properly wide shaped toebox for those of us with wider forefeet who want some toe splay.

Higher volume uppers or a slightly different upper shape around the big toe might help with toebox space as the upper currently forces my big toe inward, causing pain after 10-15 minutes. The Pro upper forced my toe over less, but I would like to see a sole with an even wider forefoot.

    Great but not wide enough

Ok, listen up folks, this is how you write an actual shoe review with PERTINENT details. I usually wear size 9 in Lems (9.5 on those weird fitting models for which they recommend to go 1/2 size bigger). The Trail Trasher in size 9 fits just right with "some" extra space at the toes. In fact, I could probably have gone 1/2 size bigger for this model as they feel tight. Even though this is their "widest" last, it's nowhere near as wide as the Primal Zen (which is a deal breaker). This shoe is right on the edge of being too narrow. I actually pondered whether to return it for over a week. I wore it quite a few times: it's comfortable, it's not too hot, doesn't need any breaking period, and doesn't give any blisters. The toe box is too narrow for my liking, but it's not annoying or uncomfortable. But it's narrow enough for me not to buy a 2nd pair. I mainly use these shoes for long walks. Traction is great and they feel sturdy. The strap like piece of fabric that serves as the 2nd eyelet makes the shoes look juvenile, like some type of velcro gadgetty thing designed for kids. I don't regret buying it, but I do wish the toe box was a little wider. I don't understand why Lems seems to be scared to design wider shoes. The Primal Zen is perfect. If this is "Widest", then the Primal Zen needs to be described as "Widest ++" as this is highly misleading. I personally wouldn't have bought the Trail Trasher had I known they were that narrow. This is actually where I draw the line: I…

    Comfort Plus

I have both the Trail Blazer and Thrasher which I've alternated wearing the past 2 weeks on our daily 5 mile walk for comparison. The fit and width in the toe box is the same. The tread and grip is better on the Thrasher. The cushion on the Thrasher is better for hard surface walking and trails, although both are great. I would also say that the Thrasher is warmer making it a good choice for shoulder season wear. I've been wearing the Blazer for 2 years, I'm on my second pair and I absolutely love them. My feet have never been happier. With that said the Thrasher is fantastic, I love the extra cushion, more aggressive tread, and extra grip. The Thrasher has excellent qualities which has earned them a permanent for me. I own the Primal Zen, Outlander (2 pair), Blazer (2 pair), and Thrasher now, they are my go to shoes for all activities, especially outdoor. I love them all! I've suffered with foot and toe problems for ever and have tried all the major outdoor shoe and boot companies, not anymore, my go to shoe manufacturer is Lems.
