Lems Grip Boots - Amazing Quality

First and foremost, I spent my own hard earned money on these. This isn't a sponsored review. I'm a normal person that wears these for work.

I've had these boots a few months now, and just a little background, I work with a State Park and do a ton of trail hiking where I'll do tours, etcetera. So, I've wore these boots as my exclusive shoe for the entirety of these last few months, including mowing the grass at home, going to the store, and so on so forth. I have a few miles in these now, and have not reached for any other shoe/boot.

Impressions: Lightweight (amazingly similar to a tennis shoe). Comfortability (no obvious rubbing anywhere right out of the box). Good padding. Super roomy for toes.

Laces: A few speed hooks - I usually wear these on the lower speed hooks, but if I'm doing a long hike, I'll lace them on the top hooks for a real snug fit. The laces are a tad long, but I double-tie them and they're just fine. I'm not one of those people that put 60lbs of pressure on the laces and complain that they've broke, so, these laces have held up just fine thus far.

Zero-Drop: So, I've never had a "barefoot" or "zero drop" shoe before outside of wearing skateboarding shoes - but even them will have an interior arch. When I first wore these out at work, I honestly didn't even notice anything. I just simply felt.. comfortable. I don't have any back, knee or feet pain after wearing these all day. I'd say the zero-drop is a win.

The Fit: Out of the box, I chose the exact…

Wore Boulder Boot Grip to Mt Kilimanjaro's Summit

I am 65 years old and have been wearing minimalist footwear for about 5 years. LEMS NINE2FIVE and Primal Zens have been my daily footwear for that time. When a group of friends of mine proposed a bucket list climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro (Africa's tallest mountain at 19,341 ft) I knew I needed a pair of sturdy boots for the trek. I wasn't sure if minimalist boots would afford sufficient protection and warmth, but I just can't tolerate conventional footwear anymore. I bought a pair of Boulder Boot Grips, and after training with them for six months, I deemed them up to the task. It proved to be the right decision. Though Kilimanjaro is not a technical climb, as there is walkable "trail" of sorts all the way to the summit, it has some very rocky, slick, and snowy areas that require a sturdy boot to negotiate. Throughout the 46-mile, 7-day ascent and 2-day descent, the Boulder Boot Grips worked out great for me. Wearing medium weight merino wool toe socks and no insoles, my feet remained comfortable and warm even over the rockiest parts of the route. Likely the Boulder Boot Grip wouldn't be warm and protective enough for climbing a mountain involving ropes and ice axes, but it's right in the wheelhouse for any adventure that I'm likely to do at this stage in my life. I highly recommend the Boulder Boot Grip for just about any regular hiking that one would do.
