Balanced Weight Distribution
The increased overall outsole width ensures that your body weight is spread out more evenly, reducing the pressure points on your feet. This even weight distribution enhances comfort during various activities. For those with lower arches and flat feet, you will find that this is a big improvement. But for those with high arches, you may feel very little, to no difference.
Enhanced Outsole
The Primal 3 is made with our Widest Fit Last, just like the Primal 2. The difference is that we developed a new outsole on the Primal 3 with a wider footprint for more ground contact underneath the foot.
Higher Sidewalls
When examining the Lems Primal 3 from a lateral view, you may notice a visual difference — the sidewalls now wrap up higher on the sides. This is a deliberate design choice aimed at improving both fit and lateral stability. The higher side walls provide a snugger fit around the contours of your feet, cradling them comfortably.

Zero drop boot with all the bells & whistles
I've been wearing minimalist trail runners for years as my hiking footwear and did well until recently. Increasing weekly hiking mileage this summer in addition to joints that aren't getting any younger created lots of tendinitis which finally sidelined me. I researched many shoe companies and Lems provided all the information I need via website & YouTube to make a proper decision. Shipping was very quick. Am impressed with the quality of boot - I've never owned anything like this before but the real test was hitting the trails, caves, stands, and everything encountered while on the trail. Much to my surprise, my feet have remained bone dry the entire time, I ceased falling on the trail (and stopped going to the chiropractor so often!), no more blisters, and all the tendinitis resolved within 2 weeks (no drugs). These boots are comfortable and very warm, I'm still getting used to them, but didn't find them heavy or awkward after wearing featherweight shoes so many years. Appreciate the suitable cushioning that helps me carry my backpack without creating new foot problems Love the fact I can do the distance again, kick my boots off, and not be in pain when I lace them back up the next day when I go out and hit the trail again. No more painful treading across rocks & gravel. Worth the switch!

Most Comfortable Boots
These boots are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. They are lightweight and flexible. And I love the look of them on my feet. There is plenty of room in the boots to wear toe socks and the toes aren’t crowded. Plenty of room for toe splay. Waterproof and good grip are an added bonus.

Scotland 2025
I wanted to make sure I could leave a proper review on these boots and what better opportunity than a trip to Scotland! I bought these boots and wore them for a total of maybe 7 hours before embarking on my trip to Scotland.
From Oct 1 (travel day 1/2 day of boot wear) through Oct 8 (also travel day, no boot wear), I walked 32 miles. Oct 2 - Oct 7 the boots were worn at a minimum of 14 hours.
This trip included various surfaces both wet and dry, tons of stairs and steep corridors. Temps ranged from low 40’s to low 60’s.
My feet felt ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
-There is NO break in time on these boots.
-There was NO foot fatigue whatsoever.
-The wide, natural toe box is AMAZING.
-My feet never became wet or even the slightest bit damp, they stayed dry and warm!
Do I recommend these boots? Are you kidding! I cannot recommend them ENOUGH!!
I genuinely wear between a 7 and an 8. I went with a 7.5 and they fit perfectly. I wish the laces were a little longer but you cant win it all, and it is not even a fraction of a deterrent for me. By the way both my husband and I had the same boots, 10/10 for both of us.
