Balanced Weight Distribution
The increased overall outsole width ensures that your body weight is spread out more evenly, reducing the pressure points on your feet. This even weight distribution enhances comfort during various activities. For those with lower arches and flat feet, you will find that this is a big improvement. But for those with high arches, you may feel very little, to no difference.
Enhanced Outsole
The Primal 3 is made with our Widest Fit Last, just like the Primal 2. The difference is that we developed a new outsole on the Primal 3 with a wider footprint for more ground contact underneath the foot.
Higher Sidewalls
When examining the Lems Primal 3 from a lateral view, you may notice a visual difference — the sidewalls now wrap up higher on the sides. This is a deliberate design choice aimed at improving both fit and lateral stability. The higher side walls provide a snugger fit around the contours of your feet, cradling them comfortably.
Zero-Drop Platform
Just like the Primal 2, the Primal 3 is built on a zero-drop platform which keeps your heel and toes level, mimicking your natural barefoot position on a flat surface.

This sticky rubber outsole incorporates 4mm deep lugs for incredible traction on snow, mud, and everywhere in-between! The built in zig-zag grooves (siping) provide additional biting edges to cut into ice/snow and helps ground your feet in slippery situations.

Not Wide Enough in the Toe Box for Me
I wanted to love these. They are advertised as their widest natural shape fit. After trying two different sizes (my regular size and a whole size up), the toe box still squeezed my foot. I ended up returning both. I typically wear the Primal shoe if that helps. I have several pairs of Primals. I also have a pair of the Drifters and the Switchback sandals, which are both plenty wide in the toe box. The Outlander is super cute! The short boots felt very warm and sturdy! But my whole reason for switching to Lems footwear is the widest natural shape fit. The Outlander just didn't hit the mark for me. Maybe it's perfect for others.

Comfortable boots
I took these boots on a trip to the Kootenays. They kept my feet warm and dry up in the mountains and in town.
I bought my regular size and the top of my feet felt a bit squished. I solved the issue by pulling out the insoles, which I do for most shoes anyway.
These boots did well on walking paths and on intermediate trails. I do wish the soles provided more traction for the few sections of steep terrain I encountered.
Overall I'm happy with them and look forward to testing them on the West Coast Trail next year.

Great fit, comfort and feel
The most comfortable minimalist hiking boot I've experienced. Not as much space in the toes compared to minimalist shoes, but that's expected with the purpose/durability of a hiking boot. The boot is so flexible, I can feel the smallest of changes in hiking trail surfaces beneath my feet, which makes me feel more balanced and confident in slippery steps particularly.
