Balanced Weight Distribution
The increased overall outsole width ensures that your body weight is spread out more evenly, reducing the pressure points on your feet. This even weight distribution enhances comfort during various activities. For those with lower arches and flat feet, you will find that this is a big improvement. But for those with high arches, you may feel very little, to no difference.
Enhanced Outsole
The Primal 3 is made with our Widest Fit Last, just like the Primal 2. The difference is that we developed a new outsole on the Primal 3 with a wider footprint for more ground contact underneath the foot.
Higher Sidewalls
When examining the Lems Primal 3 from a lateral view, you may notice a visual difference — the sidewalls now wrap up higher on the sides. This is a deliberate design choice aimed at improving both fit and lateral stability. The higher side walls provide a snugger fit around the contours of your feet, cradling them comfortably.
Zero-Drop Platform
Just like the Primal 2, the Primal 3 is built on a zero-drop platform which keeps your heel and toes level, mimicking your natural barefoot position on a flat surface.

Love them even better than my first pair!
My first pair of mariners are about 7 years old and have been through every type of environment possible- water, snow, sand, ice, mud, cobblestone, gravel and I’m still wearing them! When a friend started calling them my ugly shoes a few years back, it was time to replace them. Unfortunately they were no longer a Lems style! I’ve checked periodically for two years, hoping they’d return.
I bought the redesigned blue pair and couldn’t be more pleased. The redesign is definitely an improvement in appearance with nearly no sacrifice in comfort or function. No longer ugly, my friend now wants a pair!
BTW, I’m not tossing the originals because they have years of life remaining. They’ll function for snow, hikes, etc. They could use new inserts, which could be challenging with a discontinued cut.

Need a dressier color combo for Mariner!
I love my Mariners, and I'd wear them all the time if you offered them in a dressier color. I have the blue with white soles, and they are great *most* of the time. But if you offered them in gray-on-gray, or some other low-contrast combo (red with black sole and stitching? blue with black or blue sole and stitching?), I could wear them practically anywhere. Older women like me need comfortable shoes like this for *every* occasion! Give it some thought, guys!

Just what I was looking for
I was looking for a shoe that was dressier then an athletic to wear with linen trousers and one that could be worn for a lot of walking and standing with a sole closer to the nine to fives that I wore daily for work where I stood and walked several hours . These work out just perfect, I will wear them the full season. I have several severe foot ailments and now I only wear zero drop, toe shape shoes. I do add a 5mm flat foam insole that is toe shaped and has no arch support that I purchase at another online store. The majority of shoes that I wear are a pair of LEMS. Thank you for producing great footwear.
