Balanced Weight Distribution
The increased overall outsole width ensures that your body weight is spread out more evenly, reducing the pressure points on your feet. This even weight distribution enhances comfort during various activities. For those with lower arches and flat feet, you will find that this is a big improvement. But for those with high arches, you may feel very little, to no difference.
Enhanced Outsole
The Primal 3 is made with our Widest Fit Last, just like the Primal 2. The difference is that we developed a new outsole on the Primal 3 with a wider footprint for more ground contact underneath the foot.
Higher Sidewalls
When examining the Lems Primal 3 from a lateral view, you may notice a visual difference — the sidewalls now wrap up higher on the sides. This is a deliberate design choice aimed at improving both fit and lateral stability. The higher side walls provide a snugger fit around the contours of your feet, cradling them comfortably.
Zero-Drop Platform
Just like the Primal 2, the Primal 3 is built on a zero-drop platform which keeps your heel and toes level, mimicking your natural barefoot position on a flat surface.

OILED LEATHER UPPER

We’ve utilized a 100% full-grain leather with an oiled finish, that is pre-treated to be water repellent. To increase the water-repellency and extend it over the life of the shoe, we suggest using a waterproofing wax such as Otter Wax and reapplying 2-3 times per year.

IBR OUTSOLE

Our injection blown rubber outsole is what makes Lems incredibly lightweight and flexible. Deemed as the perfect travel companion, this boot can pack down to the size of your favorite puff jacket.

ZERO-DROP

so so small!
I bought a whole size up for these because everyone else said they run small. I thought I'd do a full size instead of a half size up because I was buying these to wear to the barn in the winter, so I could wear thick socks. Unfortunately, at an entire size up, these shoes are barely roomy enough for thin socks. I removed the insoles as well. I wear an 8.5, kind of teetering between more of an 8-8.5, but bought 9.5.
I probably should have returned these to exchange them for another half size up (a 10, really?) but you know how breaking leather shoes in can be, I couldn't quite be sure these were too small until I'd worn them a bit outside. I think I might buy some shoe stretchers to get these big enough to stop putting pressure on my toes. The tops of my big toes were MAJORLY tender after the first several days of wear, and I still have to keep the ankle unlaced so it isn't pushing my foot so far forward into the shoe.
The ankle on these shoes is pretty brutally stiff, my husband who bought a pair as well agrees. We both leave the two eyelets at the top unlaced.
I like that these have the stitching around the top around the toes, it makes them a little sturdier around horses. I much prefer my Jim Green African Rangers, which are unfortunately not waterproof and like wearing a glorified leather sock when a horse steps on my foot... but definitely more comfortable and true to size.
I am going to keep wearing these, I think they are nice shoes, but I did originally buy…

Amazing boots! Definitely size up
I am a huge fan of these boots! I bought them for a trip to Iceland, and they held up beautifully as I walked through ankle deep water, up glaciers and along beaches. The wide toe box and zero drop meant I had zero foot pain after days and days on my feet.
I am normally a size 8.5, but saw other reviews saying that these ran small, so I ordered a 9 and 9.5. My foot barely fit inside the size 9 with thin socks on, so I ended up needing the 9.5, so definitely order larger than you expect you will need! When I first got them, the back of the boot hurt my ankle/achilles, mainly because the leather was very stiff and pressed against my leg. After a week of wearing thick socks to protect my achillies, the boots broke in and I had no problems! Overall I love these boots, and highly recommend once they break in!
