THE BEST HIKING BOOT I NEVER KNEW I WANTED

While I’m the first one to admit that I might not have any business reviewing a hiking boot when I’m not an avid hiker, I do know something about comfortable shoes and I’m always on the hunt for a good pair! Nine years ago, I had a surgery to correct a bunion on my left foot. After enduring several hiccups in the healing and physical rehabilitation process, I chose not to have my right foot corrected. I ended up with one regular width foot that still gives me trouble, and one that requires a wide width and extra support. Finding shoes are are good looking and comfortable is a chore. I have a core collection of shoes that are falling apart because buying new is such a hassle.

I was ecstatic when I was asked to give Lems Boulder Boot a try. In addition to the comfort and support provided, these hiking boots are stylish. I know duck boots are in this year, but I’m having a hard time getting on board with that trend. Lems Boulder Boot on the other hand, is the perfect combination of style and function. They have a rugged design that pair perfectly with a flannel shirt and insulated vest, and the color choices are great! I opted for the Navy Stout, thinking they’d hide dirt best, but after receiving my boots and seeing the materials they are made out of (nylon and leather)… I think any color would stand up to the elements. One can easily wash down the boots after a long hike in the woods, or just a quick walk through a muddy backyard.

As far as comfort, Lems Boulder Boot is tops for me. First, they are crazy lightweight. I imagine they’d be the perfect boot to throw in a backpack or even a suitcase. It’s so refreshing to take a long walk and not feel like your feet are ten pounds heavier because of your hiking boots. They are also extremely comfortable. The width is more than adequate for my bunion issues, but not too roomy. I’ve worn them with everyday socks and mountaineering socks. Both socks felt comfortable inside the boot. The height is also great; it provided adequate ankle support without feeling too snug or restrictive.

When my son was born two and a half years ago, I made a pledge to start enjoying the outdoors more. I want to teach him how important it is to take time to connect with Mother Nature and become a steward for her conservation. (After all, I can’t be a lady promoting health and wellness through Hawks Homestead, LLC if I spend all day inside sitting on my couch). Since then, we’ve spent more time in the woods as a family than I had in the previous ten years… and to be honest, Lems Boulder Boot has turned out to be the best hiking boot I never knew I wanted. I’m looking forward to warmer weather in tin the Spring so we can get back outdoors and make memories – then I can really put these boots to the test.

REPEAL DAY

On December 5, 1933, the 21st Amendment to the Constitution was repealed, ending the nation’s undoubtedly failed attempt at prohibition – aka banning alcohol. Clearly it didn’t work then, and it sure as hell would never work now.
