Featured:  2014 BACKPACKER GEAR GUIDE

Weighing a mere 9.9oz (Mens size 43), the Boulder Boot is arguably the lightest boot in the world. The upper is made of 1200-denier nylon and a durable leather. The whole boot is completely collapsible, great for stuffing into a pack during a hike and wearing around the campfire afterwards. There's absolutely nothing to this boot, no heel counter, no shank, and nothing stiff that would irritate the foot. If a barely-there boot is what you're in need of, look no further.

FAQ's

Q: Is it waterproof?
A: No it's not waterproof.  We chose to leave out a waterproof membrane  because they sacrifice breathability.  The upper is treated with a DWR water-resistant coating.  When this begins to wear off, we suggest treating the nylon and leather with a spray on Scotchguard, Nikwax, or something similar.
Q: Is it vegan like the original shoe?
A: No, because the Brown colorway uses full-grain leather.  We are coming out with a Black colorway in October made of all vegan materials.
Q:  Returns?
A: We accept returns for 45 days.  For exchanges we will actually ship out the replacement free of charge.  See our Easy Returns page for more info.

Featured Testimonials

I recently tested the Boulder Boot on a 62-mile hike through Glacier National Park.  You may be asking yourself, "If you do not market the Boulder Boot as a performance hiking/backpacking boot, why would you post a review of the product on a 6 day hike?"  Confidence - that's why.  I was confident that the Boulder Boot would be able to withstand everything a 180 lb frame with a 50 lb pack could throw its way. And I must say, the Boulder Boot not only withstood the abuse, but it far exceeded my high expectations.  Here's the link to my full review full review.

Rating Satisfying
I was looking for a barefoot boot that was gonna carry me through the rain and the snow in the Swedish autumn and winter. I applied an extra waterproofing and i love when everybody takes an extra detour around the waterpuddles whilst i just march straight through. Almost a feeling of being a child to be able to walk througn puddles of water without a doubt! Love it! =) Also good looking and comfortable.

Rating Excellent - Love them
Extremely comfortable. Materials feel great, and everything seems put together very well. They look awesome, feel awesome, and perform awesome. Only one issue - they definitely don't seem water resistant at all. Walking more than 10-20 feet in dew-covered grass can result in wet toes. But, that can be taken care of with spray...so, I say they're good enough that they still deserve 5 stars. Plus they dry quick. Awesome boots. Thanks Lems.

Rating Absolutely awesome!
There is one, and only one, downfall I have found and that's that they are not hugely waterproof out of the box and I tend to get wet feet from the morning dew in the grass. That's it! A quick spray with some waterproofing stuff and they are spot on. Since receiving them I have worn them all day everyday and they are by far the comfiest boots I have ever owned. They are smart enough with chinos to wear to work, casual enough with jeans at the pub and comfy enough to wear all day every day.

Rating Exactly what I was looking for
I searched long and hard for a boot that had a wide toe box and flat sole, and stumbled across lems boulder boot. The first time I put them on was awesome, they are so light, and actually made of tougher material than I was expecting. I do trail maintenance for BLM, and so far they are great. As some other people have mentioned, the only thing I would change is give the bottoms a little more traction. Thanks for the great product.

Rating Cameraman's best friend
I'm a cinematographer, working on my feet for 12+ hours a day in a multitude of situations and terrain, often with a camera on my shoulder. These boots survived 3 months of hard use and long days all over South America on a documentary, and truly saved my feet. I would appreciate a little more traction on smooth surfaces, but otherwise they were perfect. I'll be buying these forever.

Rating Most comfortable boots I've ever owned
I've worn the same pair of Redwing work boots for the past 15 years. Normally, at the end of the day, my feet would be sore so I'd switch out of my boots and into sneakers. Now, I switch into the Boulder boot because it's as comfortable as sneakers. No break in needed. The flannel lining is a nice touch of style too. With the mock toe on these boots, they can pass for office casual with khakis. The only complaint I have is that I've only had these 2 weeks and the laces already broke.

Rating Boulder Boot = comfort
I've been wearing the boot for over two months almost everyday. They are without a doubt the most comfortable boot I have owned. I have only worn them in summer months and they breathe well. Light, wide, just plain comfortable. I wear them almost daily. Keep up the great foot wear guys!

Rating Thank you!!!!
I've worn these for a month now. These are great boots. They are almost perfect for me. The only change I made was to get cotton terry insoles because my bare feet stuck to the insoles they came with. These are now my everyday shoes.

I was a little put off the first time that I put them on as the loop on the back of one broke. No big deal; I just removed it and it's mate on the other shoe and haven't missed them. The shoes are comfortable so far; no break-in woes of any kind. Time will tell how they hold up, but so far so good.

Rating Perfect Boot
i ordered this expecting it might take some getting used to but as it turns out, they're great straight away. (i guess this is because i normally wear skate shoes and they don't have much arch support etc) so i recently took them on a long walk round the peak district and they were great. i will probably now get another pair of a different variety

Rating Fantastic.
I bought these a few months back and wore them through a Minnesota winter and in and around my business. My back pain is far reduced, my feet are alive, I could go on. I intend to wear these through the summer and into next winter as well. While I crave minimalism, I would immediately buy a slightly more robust version of the same boot, with ever so slightly tougher materials all around...but if not, I will buy this exact pair when these wear out.

Chose these for a trip to Amman, Jordan. Temperate climate and not a lot of walking required. 1 week into the trip we got 18 inches of snow! Of 5 men on the trip I was the only one not to get my feet soaked, Lem's doesn't say they are water proof, but they sure worked great for me. I'm sold on these and will be trying their other styles soon.

Rating Love these boots
I have been been looking for a minimalist boot for a while, and where these are not true barefoot, these work wonderfully for my needs. They are warm, but you might want thicker socks in colder temps. Also, I am a 10.5 wide, and went with the 45 (US 11)...so glad I did. The boot fits perfectly, like it was tailored to my foot. Cons would be the tongue for higher water resistance, and I feel the sole could be a bit more "grippy".

love them! the feel of the sole blew me away, as i don't really like wearing shoes on a normal day. I have always relied on feeling on the bottom of my feet when bush walking or tracking; these shoes give me a massive advantage.

Great shoes, what shoes were meant to be. After wearing and loving other minimalist shoes, five fingers, minimus I began to look for a pair of that I could wear to work. These boots exceeded my expectations, I would recommend them and I plan on purchasing other LEM products.
