9.9oz. Lightweight Packable Boot

Finding boots that are ultra-minimalist, featuring a wide toebox, lightweight form, and zero-drop design is more difficult than locating the infamous Sasquatch…but why?  Where is the minimalist boot that is the natural shape of the human foot; a boot that brings your feet closer to the earth with a barefoot design; a boot so lightweight that it cuts down on ounces more than this week's fad diet; and a boot that has a wide toebox with more open space than the state of Kansas? Well, guess what, Dorothy? Welcome home!

We here at Lems Shoes believe that you don't need to be some environmentalist who survives on organic granola and berries to know that going natural can have its benefits, which is why we bring you the Boulder Boot - a barefoot boot that has all of the natural features you’ve been searching for all while promoting healthy foot development, better balance, increased mobility in the feet, legs, and back AND helps to alleviate certain foot ailments such as bunions and hammer toes. If you're ready for a 9.9oz boot (size 43) that can pack down into the smallest of daypacks or carry you on the farthest of Sasquatch searches, then it’s time you rock the Boulder.

    Boulder Boot Buckeye

Posted by Norm Prusa on Mar 27th 2017

I really wanted to like these boots but there are several things that kept that from happening. First, these boots are not made for people with thin ankles or low volume feet. If you have thick ankles and fat feet you'll be fine. My feet are normal width (actually a little on the wide side) but very lean. When I lace up the boots it is impossible to get them snug around the ankle and heel causing a lot of slop in the fit. Second, the toe box is simply not wide enough for full toe splay. I was really hoping to use my correct toes with these but my big toe and pinky toe get smashed against the sides. Third, the sizing is horrible. The first pair I ordered my normal shoe size (43) and my toes hit the end of the shoe when flexed during walking. I ordered the next size up (44) and they were literally the exact same size as the 43's. So I order a 45 and they are an inch longer than the 44's. This is just way too inconsistent. Finally, the sole material is just too soft. A slightly thinner and less cushy material would have been much more appropriate.

    Color not consistent with picture

Posted by Mike on Jan 18th 2017

Ordered the buckeye and the leather is like milk chocolate amd the canvas is more orange like carhartt. Misleading pictures. I kept them instead of going through exchange process. Comfortable though. Not happy about color

    Boulder Boot is a Boot

Posted by Dan E on Jan 11th 2017

The boot works great. I'm not super used to boots, so the ankle is annoying a little (but this is a personal problem). They are super not insulated, so wear thick socks when it's cold, but I haven't had any trouble with the wet leaking in trudging over sidewalk snow. Would recommend.

    Boulder Boot

Posted by Chris Pickering on Jan 6th 2017

So I've been living on a ski mountain this season and that means a lot of snow, salt, and harsh conditions. These boots have been my go to every day on my way to work and have performed better than any boot I've used in the snow yet. Really, the insulated liner is jsut enought to keep the boot flexible, but still warm. The canvas is actually waterproof, and the quality leather has held up to the salt perfectly. The fit is also really impressive, they hug your foot and help you feel totally secure while walking over ice and anything else you'll come across. Plus they just look great, I get compliments all the time. So all in all, I wish I could give six stars. Bravo LEMS.

    Really good

Posted by Aaron on Dec 9th 2016

These are by far the best minimalist boot I have found. I wore them for work last winter, outside doing manual labor. They still look new, just dusty. My only complaint is that while the toebox is probably wide for you average consumer, I wear only minimalist shoes and my now super wide feet could use a little more.

    Amazing boots

Posted by Drew on Nov 28th 2016

They are extremely comfortable. My foot is really wide and i have pleanty of space. I love the way I can feel the ground and how i have movement and not a stiff boot. My wife and I both bought a pair 2 months ago. I loved them so much that I had to buy another pair for work as I could not go back to a stiff, tight and uncomfortable boot.

So you are going to get the box and you are going to be like what the f...this box is too light...there cant be boots in this box?...Then you pull out the shoes and they are going to light as a barn owls feather! Now, after you calm down from the shock of lightness you loosen the laces and slip your ol sticks in em. STOP don't be alarmed at the feeling your little piggies start feelin, I think they were engineered for this. It feels like a magical comfort land filled with pillows and down but really its just your foot in a boot. Don't think just buy.

    My Long Distance Hiking Boot

Posted by Austin Schrock on Jul 31st 2016

I recently finished hiking 2,189 miles on the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. This boot was on my feet the entire way. They held up just as well as any other hiking boot/shoe on the market. In the the 3 months I was on the trail I went through a pair a month. Many people go through 3 or even 4 pairs of shoes over this distance. While averaging 24 miles a day over all types of terrain I never developed a significant blister on my feet and never suffered any type of injury. Thanks to Lems and the Boulder Boot my feet stayed comfortable, healthy, and never posed a problem for me. Now I can hardly tolerate wearing any other type of boot. Thank you Lem's for the great footwear!

Bought these boots after a year of loving my Primal 2s. I was blown away by the out of the box comfort and flexibility. I would have never believed a boot could rival the nimble feeling of my Primal 2s. I wear these with a slightly thicker pair of winter socks and it's like wearing fur lined moccasins. Love them.

Awesome fit—toes feel free without the shoe feeling loose. Breathable, light, and easy to wear for long periods of time. Great shoe for anything from hiking to daily wear on concrete. Moderate weather only.

I'm in construction and farming. I've been wearing Redwing's for 30years because of their durability and they come in triple E sizes. Not anymore. The first thing I noticed upon opening the box was the craftsmanship. No loose threads or exposed glue. I've owned several brands of minimalist shoes. None have stood the test of time(within the first month show signs of dilapidation). I've been wearing these boot's - that are on my feet now - for about 2 months and I'm as happy with them as the day they arrived.

So i am a big guy (pushing 390) and i have always been in the thickest soles, with the hardest rubber, with the tightest laces and ankle braces, and supports, and insoles, and extra thick socks, all to just try to get my back to stop hurting, and my feet, and ankles, and knees. None of it ever worked, in fact most of that probably made it worse. I got these on a whim after reading up quite a bit on my flatish feet and what a lot of places recommended getting shoes that are as flat as possible, with enough room for your toes to move around, and not a lot of cushion. every time i searched 0 drop shoes, lems were the first to pop up as best, or favorite, or most recommended it turns out i have to agree with every good thing i have heard about them. I have had no foot pain, ankle pain, knee plain, nor back pain since i started wearing them. Prolonged periods of standing and walking no longer cause debilitating pain in my back and ankles. (the need to sit down for at least 15 to 20 minutes just to be able to stand up straight) My ONLY beef's, are that they are a bit more than i usually spend, and because they are a tad warm, im going to have to buy a pair of the shoes, also a bit more than i usually spend, however after all the years of buying and trying hundreds of pairs of other shoes, ill gladly pay it until they DO cost less.

These are great shoes. I bought them to replace my old pair of Merrell Barefoot Power Play gloves which Merrell no longer makes. The Lems shoes are a good alternative, though I do miss the vibram sole a little from the Merrell's. I haven't gone hiking (yet) in these, but I'm confident they'll hold up for a day hike. I found they chafed a little at first until I started tying them differently, and now they fit perfectly. There's plenty of room in the toebox, which is important to me. I bought (and returned) a pair of Vivobarefoot hiking boots because they didn't have enough room for my toes to move. The brown color is great, though I half wish I'd purchased Timber instead... those look amazing, but I went with boring. Perhaps next time, because there will be a next time! I can easily see myself buying another pair when (if) these wear out.

    Versatile boot

Posted by Matt on Apr 26th 2016

I purchased these boots to wear at work. I work in an office environment. Looks great with khakis and jeans. Very comfortable, no leg or foot pain at the end of the day. Have also put some heavier wear on them working on my car in the garage. Still holding up great. Have read some complaints about the boots not being waterproof. Haven't used them in heavy snow or rain, so this hasn't been an issue for me. Have had them now for about 4 months. I plan on buying another pair sometime. Would reccomend.

unless you buy another pair in another color. this is my 2nd pair of Boulder boots. the first pair lasted me 2 years I think and still looks good and is as comfortable as they have ever been. Hands down, these are the best, most comfortable shoes you will own. All of a sudden you will realize, oh, I can wear these boots with shorts, and I can wear these boots with dress slacks, and hell, I think these boots will look damn fine with a suit

I wasn't so sure about these boots at first. The ankle felt a little funny, and it rubbed my achilles tendon just a little. But I've since tromped all over San Francisco, did a whole lot of walking, and they were great. I love the boots.

I am an avid hiker with foot problems. Bunions, extra wide feet, high arches, etc. I bought these Lems and gone are the foot problems! I absolutely love them! I normally wear a six to six and a half, got a 39 in these. They are a bit longer than what I normally wear, but for hiking this is perfect, as the feet swell and more toe room is needed. Really wanted to give a five star rating but for some reason, that option wasn't available.

    2nd pair of Boulders

Posted by Leigh Wilkinson on Apr 19th 2016

I love the Amber Boulder! My first pair were the black ones, and even though they were fully canvas they took more breaking in than my Amber Blues that have a bit of leather. This pair fit great nearly as soon as I put them on! Just as comfortable as the last pair, now with the added longevity of extra insoles these are sure to last me a long while. I walk an hour to work most days, from Queens to Brooklyn, and these boots carry me happily from point A to point B.

I've bought 3 pairs of Boulder boots this year and and I'm not ashamed. I'm so in love with these shoes. I've never had a pair that fit better. At my job I'm on my feet for 8+ hours. I've tried everything - running shows, 150$ Nike's, insoles - nothing compares to the comfort I feel when wearing my LEMS. I don't think I'll buy any other shoe again.

I have had my Buckeye Boulder Boots for a few months and they have absolutely replaced many of the shoes in my closet. They are extremely light, but have a durable feel so even though you move through terrain or the city easily you still feel protected. I travel extensively for work and only like carry on luggage. I no longer carry tennis shoes on the road, it is always my Boulder Boots in my bag....yes even for the gym on the road. They make my trips to NY with follow on to Denver so much easier since they pack well and are durable enough for finding the nearest Shake Shack in NY or enjoying Red Rock Amphitheater in Denver.

I use these boots when i ride my scooter to work, when i split wood in the backyard. These are the boots that i take on a quick trail hike in the foothills. 3rd Pair

Posted by Rone on Apr 16th 2016

I'm on my third pair of Lem's Boulder boots. I'll continue to buy them for the forseeable future. I really like the fit and feel. After 3 pair: (1) I wish the outsole came in a tougher compound - I've worn out 2 outsoles all the way through long before the upper was wore out; (2) for running these are great, on the trail your ball-of-foot will slide around in the boot, it's a trade-off; (3) this boot is screaming for an all-leather version; (4) for the price I'm disappointed in the lack of durability in the outsole. Until a competitor can trump the Boulder boot, this is and will remain my every-day shoe. When I buy my 4th pair, I'm going to attempt to attach a thin vibram sole to the bottom of the Boulder boots in the hope they'll last longer than 8 months. Until the Boulder is outdone, I'll continue to buy them. All-day comfort on concrete and the trail.

    Great boots!

Posted by John on Apr 15th 2016

I have been wearing these exclusively since I got them about a month ago. They are very comfortable, fit well (I got 48's and typically am size 13), and there is plenty of room in the toe box which I love for allowing my toes to stretch out while the boots are on. This is exactly the type of minimalist boot I was looking for - something that looks normal (better yet, looks awesome!) yet offers my feet the opportunity to return to a more natural posture. Highly recommended!

    Very nice, with nitpicks

Posted by Weston Smith on Apr 15th 2016

These boots are very comfortable to wear, very light. I broke them in going up and down 3 flights of stairs clearing out a house and my feet felt great after*. My only criticisms: like every pair of Lems I've bought, the shoelaces are too short. May be personal preference but I like a longer lace. *The other criticism I have is the boots rub my ankles raw. I'm not used to a taller boot either but that's my problem, not the shoes. I'm not disappointed with this purchase at all. Just need to get used to them.

    Amazing Shoes, Need more Cushion

Posted by Hannah on Apr 15th 2016

I love these boots! Ever since I got them, I've worn them almost every single day. The natural shape is so much more comfortable than any of my old shoes that squeeze my toes together or have a heel. The only downside is that after walking on cement all day (I walk 8 miles/day on average) , my heel starts to hurt because there is not very much padding. These would be absolutely perfect if there was more padding.

I found this company and have never looked back. My toes have ample room, they're SO comfortable, they breath, they're super lightweight, they can dressed up or worn for hiking, and they're zero drop. I get compliments on them all the time. Really, the perfect shoe.

larger size runs small compared to Nine2Five

Posted by I'm Only Sleeping on Apr 12th 2016

Love the idea of the boot but can't wear it as it is too small. Size 48 in the Nine2Five fits me fine, but size 48 in the Boulder Boot is about the size of, or a bit smaller than, a 47 in the Nine2Five. Beware that larger sizes may vary between models, contrary to the website's sizing guide.

    Wonderful, but with some reservations

Posted by Amy on Mar 16th 2016

These are sublimely comfortable hiking boots, and they stay wonderfully comfortable all day. I have a neuroma which tends to be a problem when wearing hiking boots, but with these boots there are no issues at all with it. For this reason these are my favorite hiking boots ever. However, there is a problem with them if you're going to hike anyplace wet and steep and slippery. These boots have very poor traction when worn on slick wet surfaces, causing more than one slip and fall for me in places where I wouldn't ordinarily have had a problem. I would sure be happy if Lems made this boot with better traction. I'd also be much more happy with them if they were waterproof. Lems is nicely up front about advising customers that they are not, but I would certainly prefer my hiking boots to be waterproof! If they had better traction I'd definitely give these boots five stars, since they are light as feathers and unbelievably comfortable. With the traction issue, though, I'm giving them only four stars.

I Love these boot so just had to write a review which I don't normally do. I came across the Lems site and was disappointed that I then could not find any suppliers in the UK. Considering that it costs a bit more to bring them in I decided to bite the bullet and go for it and I am so glad I did. I had these boots on doing the gardening today and they are just so comfortable, you hardly know they are on, so light and my feet, especially my toes, are thanking me. I bought a pair of the Primal 2's as well and they are just as comfortable. I am falling in love I feel like chucking all my other shoes, boots and trainers out and just using Lems. If you are looking for ideas Lems a waterproof hiking boot or wellington boot would be very welcome so I can walk the dog in all weathers with puddles and mud. In the mean time thanks for such a great boot. Anyone thinking of buying a pair, go on I don't think you will be disappointed.

Posted by Brooke on Mar 9th 2016

I am so happy I found these boots. I have transitioned all of my footwear to minimalist, but I still needed to find some winter boots. These absolutely work. They are super-comfortable. I was afraid the sole would be too stiff, but they are not bad at all, considering they are boots. They repel water and snow quite well, too. My only negative comment would be about the sizing. The sizing guide recommends going up from what you normally wear, which I did, and the boots I ordered were huge. I had to return them and get a new size, which was still too big. In the end, I would have been fine with the exact same size I am in other shoe brands.

Best everyday boot I have ever owned

Posted by Raymond on Mar 8th 2016

I have had these boots for about a year now and they are worth every penny. I work retail, I spend a lot of time standing at a register, running around the store, going up and down ladders and pushing carts out side. Most shoes last me about 2 months before the sole too worn to be usable or starts hurting my feet. I can honestly say these boots have improved my quality of life. I no longer have foot pain after being on them all day and as a bonus my back isn't stiff anymore. If you are going to use these in cold and or wet environments I would highly recommend swapping out the inserts (save them for when things do warm back up) and putting in a thermal ones that has an aluminum (space blanket) layer. With soles this thin you will lose a lot of body heat into to cold ground using the inserts the boots come with. The other thing you might want to do is put on a silicon based water repellent barrier. It lasts longer then scotch guard and is safe to use on these boots with out causing discoloration. With a sole this thin I was worried that I would blow though them in a month but after a year of use on a lot of rough surfaces there is not a lot of noticeable wear other then most of the texture on the heel being gone. If there was an option to get these boots resoled when they do eventually wear though I would take Lems up on it, otherwise I will be buying these again when the time comes. Even if they had only had lasted a few months I'd still buy them again just for the pain relief alone but I predict I'll get another two years at least out of these. Keep up the quality and innovation Lems and you'll have a customer for life.

Extremely happy would be an understatement. I pretty much spend all my time outside of work with Luna Sandals on my feet. Though when I was in need of new work shoes I came across Lems. I now had an excuse to purchase boots when I previously own none. Perfect, barely there minimal boots that I way to work and throw on those rare occasions when weather keeps me out of my Lunas. Only complaint with the boot itself is that the laces are super long. Lems was kind enough to throw in an extra pair of a different color so I didn't mind trimming one set down. Otherwise, manufacture Lems in the USA and instead of China and get rid of the outdated shipping fees and I'd say these guys would be right up there with my favorite huarache makers.
