Lems Shoes run true to the US Size above

Weighing a mere 9.9oz (Mens size 43), the Boulder Boot is arguably the lightest boot in the world. The upper of the Black Boulder Boot is made of 1200-denier nylon and is 100% Vegan. The whole boot is completely collapsible, great for stuffing into a pack during a hike and wearing around the campfire afterwards. There's absolutely nothing to this boot, no heel counter, no shank, and nothing stiff that would irritate the foot. If a barely-there boot is what you're in need of, look no further.

Q: Is it waterproof?
A: No it's not waterproof.  We chose to leave out a waterproof membrane  because they sacrifice breathability.  The upper is treated with a DWR water-resistant coating.  When this begins to wear off, we suggest treating the nylon and leather with a spray on Scotchguard, Nikwax, or something similar.
Q: Is it vegan like the original shoe?
A: No, because the Brown colorway uses full-grain leather.  We are coming out with a Black colorway in October made of all vegan materials.
Q:  Returns?
A: We accept returns for 45 days.  For exchanges we will actually ship out the replacement free of charge.  See our Easy Returns page for more info.

Featured Testimonials

I recently tested the Boulder Boot on a 62-mile hike through Glacier National Park.  You may be asking yourself, "If you do not market the Boulder Boot as a performance hiking/backpacking boot, why would you post a review of the product on a 6 day hike?"  Confidence - that's why.  I was confident that the Boulder Boot would be able to withstand everything a 180 lb frame with a 50 lb pack could throw its way. And I must say, the Boulder Boot not only withstood the abuse, but it far exceeded my high expectations.  Here's the link to my full review full review.

My first impression was that they are a bit on the bulky side in terms of feel, compared with similar Vivo products, but after a week or so I'm really starting to like them. These truly are winter boots i.e. I can't really think of wearing them in warm weather (a few degrees above zero Celsius my feet already started sweating in these). Craftsmanship looks good, as with other products I've bought from Lems. Still haven't managed to test them on the water-resistance feature though.

These boots went on sale for half off a month or so after I received them, but that happens I guess. An excellent pair of footwear. I ordered a size or two bigger than normal so that my toes can splay in the toe box and I can fit two pairs of wool socks, as I have a very wide foot. My only qualms are that the outsole forms a 90 degree angle with the ground at the heel (no curve for rolling on), and the laces are a bit long. Definitely worth the money!

My black Boulder boots look fabulous, but they were a tad small to wear them with wool socks. I sent them back for a size up so I can use them in the Wisconsin winters. I am wishing they had a sole and cinching around the arch like the Primal 2's and waterproofing. But all-in-all I still love all my LEMS!

I am very happy to have bought these boots. For a long time I have been looking for some good barefoot boots and these are excellent! My only concern is if these were to ever get discontinued. Everytime that I really like a product, they usually discontinue it. I really hope that as this company grows these boots always stay the same! Thanks Lems

Hands down the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn. They are like having slippers on all day. Toe box is roomy for the toes to spread out. I wear them every day!

These are great shoes. The sizing chart worked well and got the correct size. Very comfortable, toes have room to spread out. They're so light weight it adds to the natural feel, like barefoot but not. You have to try them.

+ flexible and light shoes, feels more natural to walk around in + comfortable - although they are wide, they are not wide enough (at least in my case, size 47) to wear with corrcet toes on. the sizes seem for me to on the small side, I usually have 46. If I buy another pair I might even get size 48 to have a little extra space. water proof: for future development I would love to see a similar shoe that have goretex or similiar material that is water resistant

Since receiving my Lems I can honestly say I have put them through the paces. Not two days out the box I took my new hiking boots on ten miles of trail and they never missed a beat. Rock, dirt, mud, and snow. The terrain didn't phase them in the lest. A quality product and prompt shipping. Excellent job all around.

Very happy with these boots. Both upper material and sole are very flexible. Lightweight as well. I did a few short runs with them and they were very comfortable. The sole is a bit thicker than the Vivobarefoot shoes, a good thing!

Trekked the Annapurna circuit last November wearing the Boulder Boots; no blisters and it was great to feel the ground beneath my feet. Not great in wet snow but what boot is (might I suggest making a model using breathable material like "Gortex".I would be more than willing to test them for you.

I have three different Lems models. Boulder Boot - Good fit & comfortable, but noticed bad fraying on the top portion of the shoe after the 1st use. The threads seems to fray very easily on this particular model.

Rating One of the best casual paleo shoes
I have been wearing paleo shoes for 2 years. I have 3 pairs of shoes from vivo barefoot and 1 Lems. I love those because they are very soft and confortable. Also they look good, I really love the strong black color. The aeration is very good, bus as a consequence the shoes are not waterproof. I use it every day for my job.

I bought these boots for work - never having worn minimalist shoes before. I'm standing on concrete all day at work - and my feet don't hurt at all! I was quite surprised by that. I've noticed a problem with fraying material around the seams; but I find that it's easy to clean up using a lighter to burn off the loose strands. I really like the fact that these boots are the same material all the way around and not trimmed with faux leather like the others. Will definitely by these again.

Rating Amazing boots with one tiny problem
I LOVE these boots. They are comfortable, light and, unlike everything else on the barefoot shoes market, actually attractive. These boots are actually wide enough for me to fit my foot in, even with correct toes on. This is normally impossible for me to find. The problem is that the seams around the toes are fraying badly, and have been since around a month of wear. So far it looks to be only cosmetic and I hope that's the case because it would be such a pity if these babies fell apart on me.

These boots are everything that they say they are. I need a low heel due to a back injury and I couldn't be happier, these boots are perfect in comfort and in style. All my friends think they look great! Now I wish they made them in a safety toe so I could wear them to work!

I have had these boots for about 2 and a half months now. So far I love these boots. The feel great on my foot. I did have to remove the insole as I have a tall foot. They have held up very well as my everyday and work shoe. This is about my only pair of shoes I have worn in that 2 and a half months. I am on concrete and ladders all day and my feet feel great at the end of the day. Thank you Lems for making a boot with a wide foot bed and some decent insulation for the winter in Nebraska.

Most excellent overall. I have had problems with my left foot for years due to plantar fasciitis and these boots have allowed me to walk free from pain. The boots good looking, comfortable and flexible. Most importantly, they are warmer and more waterproof than the pair of Vibram 5 fingers that I had been wearing. My only very minor complaint is that the laces provided could have been longer. I had to buy a set, but this is due mostly to the odd shape of my feet.

Rating Great boots but seams are fraying
I love these shoes! I have the boots and primal 2 shoes. The seams on the boot at the toes are fraying really bad. I will have to trim it with scissors or something. Other than that I love these shoes. I will try ordering a pair of the shoes with leather uppers to avoid this. I would still recommend these to everyone. BTW I have the black all vegan model... this could be the reason for the fraying...

This versatile boot is great for work, hiking, construction, dinner out, in a light rain, with pants, or with shorts. Does it all in style and comfort while allowing your foot to be natural. The plaid interior and metal eyelets with 'Lems' on them are nice design details. The sole is firmer than the Primal 2 ones. Get a pair..."do it, do it."
